Meet The Provider
Dr. Emily Slife (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist who earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2007. She has worked with a variety of populations throughout her career, including college students, veterans, adults with serious mental illness (SMI), and the underserved of our local community. Dr. Slife enjoys the many roles that come with being a psychologist and utilizes both insight-oriented and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) interventions with clients. She strives to create an environment of trust and safety with each client and values the healing that can take place when people feel heard without judgment, seen for all of who they are, and feel deeply understood. She focuses on helping clients gain insight into their feelings, thoughts, and actions to address a wide range of presenting concerns. Dr. Slife integrates a variety of therapy techniques in her work which often includes a focus on interpersonal patterns and early experiences within one's family, culture, and other environments and how that influences one’s current situation and experience. Dr. Slife's goal is to meet clients where they are and create a healthy therapeutic relationship which then helps them make meaningful life changes.
Dr. Slife spent a decade focused on the clinical supervision, training, and retention of mental health professionals in Nevada. She oversaw the development and maintenance of two APA-accredited doctoral internship programs across the state. She is available to clinical mental health training programs across the country for consultation on supervision and the accreditation process.
